About Simon
Simon is an experienced Non Executive Chair/Director, CEO/CDO/CIO/GM Executive & Commercial Lawyer. He has expertise in the NZ energy, telecommunications, technology and legal sectors and has a particular interest and experience in governance, utilities, smart metering, technology, leading cultural & transformation change, digitisation, ISP networks, IOT & smart cities & grids, regional economic development and values/purpose based leadership.
After over 8 years practicing as a commercial lawyer and 12 years in senior executive life, Simon decided to leave his role as CIO/CDO at NZX listed Trustpower in mid 2020 and establish himself as a professional board director and strategic advisor.
Qualifications
Simon is a Chartered Member of the NZ Institute of Directors and has a LLB (Law) & BA (Political Studies) from the University of Otago. He has also completed the Advanced Management Programme (AMP) from the University of Pennyslvania (Wharton Business School) and a number of other executive leadership and senior governance programmes. Simon was named NZ Young Energy Executive of the Year in 2011 and the Bay of Plenty’s top Emerging Director in 2016.
